ANGELINA Freeman was the star of the show as 15 members of Deepings Swimming Club competed at the Netherlands Invitational Competition in Eindhoven.

The nine-year-old won an immaculate eight gold medals from her eight races at the Pieter Dan Van Hoogenband pool, against teams from Holland, Germany, France, Romania, America, Belgium and Italy.

Not to be outdone, medals also went to Lauren Wray, Marcus Cook, Shelby Culff, Zoe Fisher, Kallum Penman, Bailie Harrison and William Shaw. All of the swimmers achieved personal bests.

During the competition all swimmers paraded around the pool with their national flags and each country had their national anthem played.

Deepings’ tracksuits were sponsored by Deepings Lions, while shorts, T-shirts, bags and hats were sponsored by local companies.

Head coach Lynn Chapman said: “This is the third time we have entered this competition and it has been the most successful so far.

“I had a vision that we would be the best turned out team and due to the hard work of some parents seeking out sponsorship my vision came true.”
