All three Silicone Engineering riders came together to compete in the Hottrax three-hour endurance race at Oulton Park.
Russ Mountford, Malachi Mitchel Thomas and Ben Stafford needed to be in the 1000cc class due to Mountford riding the ZX10 machine and this instantly put the trio at a great disadvantage as the other two riders were on 600cc machines.
It was business from the start and even with the machine disadvantage the team put in times to achieve a creditable third position on the grid to start the event.
After three hours running the Silicone team crossed the line in a fantastic fourth place and showing that despite the horsepower deficit the lap times would be comparable to the leaders even on a smaller machine.
With a quick turnaround in the lunch break all three riders were ready for two sprint races in their relevant groups.
Although still on a clubman licence, Stafford was forced to ride in the top group based on lap times and deemed to be unfair to other riders!
Undeterred by this Stafford and Thomas battled in both their two races to take the spoils of first and second place in both races and, despite swapping positions throughout the race, they would leave the rest of the field behind and the third position man crossed the line some 20 seconds later.
This just shows how after only a few races into his first season on the 600 how Saracen’s Head youngster Stafford has progressed and setting the fastest lap of the team over the weekend at an incredible 1:41.11, almost one second faster than his BSB debut time here.
Mountford finished in fourth and fifth place in his two races, rounding of another terrific weekend for the Silicone team.
The team will now prepare for round 11 of the BSB at the Silverstone track on October 3-5.
