In a friendly match ahead of the new bowls season, Spalding Indoor Bowls Club beat Rutland Tourists 137-74.

With Geoff Craft as day captain, Spalding’s bowlers were always in control and leding on most of the rinks, gaining a 20-shot lead after just a few ends.

Four of the six rinks continued to increase their score and Spalding’s winning rink of 33-8 was made up of Alan Garrett, Edna Perkins, Abs Belding and skipper June Taylor.

Meanwhile, Spalding’s ladies played their latest Trudy Bates fixture against Stamford in what turned out to be a very close game.

Stamford finally won 99-91 to reach the county final against Lincoln.
