Spalding second team maintain title hopes

Both Spalding men’s South Lincs Scratch League teams had 4-2 wins against Stoke Rochford.

The first team, playing at the Surfleet course, raced into a 3-0 lead with wins coming from Lloyd Chatham and Chas Lacey 5&4, Andy Grimwood and Nick Holmes 6&5 and Keith Hearne and Mal Wray 5&4.

They secured the points with a late win from Mark Mitchell and Hugo Kedzlie 2&1 to remain third in their league.

The second team, playing their counterparts at Grantham, remain joint top in their league with wins coming from Chris Moxon and Mark Dodds 4&2, Chris Hancock and Steve Camm 2&1 and Rob Kedzlie and Mark Jones 1up.

Both Richard Laud and Pete Clark and Phil Tweddell and Paul Johnson halved their games to maintain the team’s title hopes.

The third team have had mixed fortunes in their latest social matches, winning at home 4-2 against Sleaford and losing by the same score at Boston.

The winning pairs against Sleaford were Rob Sampson and Mark Crozier 5&4, Ben Blom and Graham Rudkin 4&3, and Mick Hanson and Del Murphy 4&3.

Monty Brittain and Dave Colwell halved their game, as did team captain and vice Mike Murphy and Stuart Parker, who came back from three down with three to play.

Against Boston, only Andy Elms and John Camm 3&2, and Geoff Skinner and Peter Bridge 5&4 won their games in a disappointing result.
