ROWING: Juniors enjoy successful time

Spalding juniors Alex Leverage, Ruby Latka and Jasmine Latka had a successful half-term with Boston Rowing Club.

Ruby and Jasmine’s dad Phil also had wins as part of the masters team.

Boston members made three A finals, one B final and one C final on the Olympic course at Eton Dorney for the Junior Sculling Regatta.

Leverage and J Toynton (J14 2X) made their A final with a fourth position.

M Lambe and B Blanshard (WJ15 2X) made their A final in fifth place.

The Latka sisters (WJ16 2-) rowed up a year above their age group to make their A final with fourth position.

J Gavey and O Tunnard (J16 2X) made their B final in sixth and H James (J16 1X) made his C final with sixth place.

At Peterborough Spring Regatta, 20 crews entered over the two days and Boston came away with nine wins.

Junior winners were A Leverage & J Toynton (J14 2X), B Blanshard (WJ15 1X), R Latka & J Latka (WJ15 2X), M Lambe, B Blanshard, R Latka, J Latka and cox L Belton (WJ15 4X+), J Toynton (J14 1X), B Blanshard (WJ15 1X), M Lambe & B Blanshard (WJ15 2X).

The masters men also came away with two wins – P Latka, R Parker, P Burns, A Appletree & cox L Belton in Mas D4+ and in composite MasD.8+ with P Bancoft, Lincoln Rowing Club and RAF Rowing.

The star of the weekend was 16-year-old Lewis Belton who coxed three crew boats to take first place.
