SOUTH Holland competitors picked up trophies at Walpole Roller Hockey Club’s first awards night.

The Sutton Bridge Royal British Legion event was a fantastic success, with locals Mark Bingham, Jordan Eagle, Alex Callaby and Jazmine Callaby among the many receiving awards.

Jazmine Callaby won a medal for being a new player, while Bingham was rewarded for being part of the senior ‘A’ team and a special certificate.

Eagle received a trophy being part of the inters, schoolboys and the senior ‘B’ team – and also picked up an award for being the most valued player in Division Four.

There was even more silverware for Alex Callaby, who earned trophies for representing the inters, schoolboys and senior ‘A’ team.

He also won the most improved player award in the U/17s and was named as the team’s players’ player, which was a fantastic return for a someone in his first season playing roller hockey.

Prior to the bash, Bingham and Alex Callaby also won medals at the Eastern Counties Awards Ceremony at Bushfield in Peterbough, with their senior A team finishing runners-up in a cup qualifier and Division Four.

Anyone aged six and above can join Walpole Roller Hockey Club. They train on a Tuesday night at Skaterz, Mill Lane, Walpole Highway, Wisbech (6pm-8pm and 8pm-10pm).
