ROLLER HOCKEY: Defeats not a dampener

Have your say

NOT even three defeats could dampen the enthusiasm of Walpole Roller Hockey’s ‘inter’ team at Manningtree on Sunday.

The team, who boast a number of players from South Holland, faced tough challenges against Norwich, Herne Bay United and Plymouth at the competition.

First up were Norwich – and Walpole held their own. A Joe Bates goal and Alex Callaby’s penalty shot made it 2-2 at the break, before Bates added another to make it 3-2.

However, Norwich found their feet and reeled off four unanswered goals to secure a 6-3 win.

Herne Bay proved a much tougher test in the second game, as Walpole were handed an 8-1 reverse. Samantha Calver grabbed the only goal.

The final game against Plymouth also ended in a comprehensive loss, but the team enjoyed their day and can’t wait for the next tournament.
