Steve Kelly was crowned winner of the second annual Drayman’s Arms Singles Pool League by an impressive four points.
He won 17 of his 22 games to finish on a titanic tally of 34 points, having been the best player on the Drayman’s baize since the league kicked off way back in September.
Second place went to Jonathan Barnett after he emerged victorious from 15 of his 22 matches, with Nigel Skelly (13 wins) finishing third.
Last season’s champion, Aiden Bingham, was ninth this time around following a return of ten wins from his 22 games.
This year 12 players – Kelly, Barnett, Skelly, Bob Cooper, Craig Scholes, Kevin Staff, Tony Branch, Mick Dolton, Bingham, Vince Webster, Colin Russell and Sean Hinegan – competed for the crown.
But Scholes and Hinegan dropped out after 11 games, leaving Des Yarnell and Jamie Howard to take their respective places.
No seven ball wins were managed all season, but that quality of play from the 14 players involved was as impressive as ever.
