FISHERMAN’S Arms A salvaged something from their season by landing the Hart-Marler Spalding and District League’s KO Cup on finals night.

The Pode Hole side, who finished as distant runners-up in Division A for the second season on the spin, defeated Royal Mail Cart B 5-4 in a thrilling final.

Tony Evans, Matt Goodale, George Orr, Ken Clayton, Paul Grimwood, Jordan Leak and Glen Harrison got their hands on the title, but Mail Cart will be ruing a missed opportunity in the deciding frame.

The cup win was the crown jewel in a treble of sorts for Fisherman’s, as they also delivered two doubles titles.

Goodale and Nick Savic lifted the main doubles gong, eventually beating team-mates Evans and Leek 3-2 in a brilliant battle. Evans did lose 3-2 to Crown’s Jay Harrison in the Captain’s Cup, though.

Fisherman’s took home the mixed doubles crown too. Their pairing of Leanne and Jon Wakefield saw off Drayman’s Arms duo Wiggs Harrison and Donna Orme 3-2 in another tight tussle.

Meanwhile, the singles title went to Charlie Baker, of Division A champions Golden Lion.

In keeping with the theme of the evening, he edged out Crown’s (Crowland) Ben Copland 3-2 in a cracking contest.

Lion then landed a third trophy of the campaign in the ladies’ singles.

This one was much more comprehensive, with Tracey Heaton cruising past Lake Ross B’s Rach Adams 3-0.

All three of the divisional champions got their hands on silverware too. Golden Lion won the top flight with 17 wins from 18 games, while Lake Ross A won a tight Division B. Golden Ball A were the top dogs in Division C.
