BRILLIANT Bell got their hands on the KO Cup after sinking Fenway in a Hart-Marler Spalding Sunday League finals night thriller.

The team of Martin Ulyatt, Chris Hall, Alex Stevenson, Lance Bettinson, Jason Houghton and Adam Mayer secured the league’s most coveted cup trophy with a 5-3 beating of Fenway at Holbeach United Services Club on Sunday night.

Having missed out on the top two in Division A, the final was between the ‘best of the rest’ – with Fenway unfortunate to take nothing from a solid season.

Still, Jason Gordon, Martin Gordon, Paul Jennings, Martin Ayre, Mikey Cartlidge and Barry Page gave a fine account of themselves.

Elsewhere, the Singles spoils went to Jordan Leak, of the Fisherman’s Arms, after he rose to the occasion on the big stage. Facing Aiden Bingham of the Drayman’s Arms, Leak secured a convincing 2-0 triumph.

There was more silverware for Fisherman’s in the Doubles, with Mark Pallatt and Steve Rowbottom edging an incredibly close final.

Up against Singles runner-up Bingham and team-mate Kevin Staff of the Drayman’s, they triumphed 2-1 in a fitting finale.

That completed a fine season for the Pode Hole based Fisherman’s, whose A team also collected the Division A title having finished ahead of runners-up Holbeach USC.

Division B champion Birds were also present to pick up their crown, having fended off the challenge of second-placed Donington side Black Swan B.

Roll of honour: Division A – Fisherman’s; Runners-up – Holbeach USC. Division B – Birds; Runners-up – Black Swan B. KO Cup – Bell (G); Runners-up – Fenway. Singles – Jordan Leak (Fisherman’s A); Runner-up – Aiden Bingham (Drayman’s). Doubles – Mark Pallatt & Steve Rowbottom (Fisherman’s B); Runners-up – Kevin Staff & Aiden Bingham (Drayman’s).
