Spalding’s Andy Molsom took his first pole position for the MotorsTV live televised race at Donington Park.
Saturday’s race in the Caterham Graduates Racing Club series saw him make a great start and he led into the first corner.
Despite constant pressure from behind, he continued to lead until near the end of lap four.
Molsom was unlucky on the penultimate lap where a spinning backmarker in the middle of the chicane forced him over the high kerbs and he ended the race in fourth, just one-tenth of a second behind third place.
Molsom said: “Starting on pole position for the first time in front of a live TV audience was slightly daunting.
“However I got away well, but was unlucky towards the end of the race.
“Fourth is still a good result so I am pleased.”
Sunday’s race saw Molsom line up third on the grid and finish second after taking the lead.
Molsom is now third in the championship, not accounting for three dropped scores.
There are six races remaining at three different circuits, with the next meeting at Zandvoort in Holland in early August.
