After a few days testing their Formula Two 600cc sidecar Long Sutton’s driver Scott Parnell and his passenger Adam Christie went straight to the first round of the British Motorcycle Racing Club’s meeting at Brands Hatch.

This was a real family affair for Christie as his 18- year-old twin Tom was there as a passenger for his dad Simon in the same class.

His 21-year-old brother Sam was also there as a passenger on a 1000cc Formula One sidecar with his driver Tony Brown testing for next weekend’s British Formula One Championship.

With four ten-lap races over the two days and a qualifying session there was plenty of track time for the teams.

Parnell and Christie qualified in eighth place and had two eighth-place finishes.

Sunday’s conditions were very wet and cold but this saw the team improving with a seventh place and then an excellent fourth place.

However the honours went to Christie’s twin with a first, second and two sixth places. His older brother had three first places and a non-finish due to a gear link problem.

Overall Parnell was very pleased with the weekend’s work.

They are hoping for much better weather when they compete at Oulton Park in Cheshire for the first round of the British Championship.
