THIS weekend sees the half way stage of the Fuchs Silkolene British Supersport championship – with Ben Wilson holding a comfortable 59 point advantage at the top of the rider standings.
Kirton racer Wilson and the Gearlink Kawasaki team head to Snetterton in Norfolk for round six of the series and will be greeted by a new track layout.
Wilson, who did complete a test at the new circuit prior to the beginning of the season, is looking forward to the challenge.
He said: “It’s a fast and flowing circuit with a completely new layout. I went well there at the BSB test earlier in the year and am looking forward to riding under race conditions.”
The new circuit has been extended to 2.9689 miles to include a tight hairpin called Montreal and a further four new corners at Agostini, Hamilton, Williams and Oggies.
Riders then head off down a long straight to rejoin the old track, going through the notorious Bomb Hole and Coram Curve before crossing the finish line.
A new lap record is to be established in each class, guaranteeing that all riders, including Wilson, will be looking to claim the record and enter the history books.
With two races on the programme the record will be set by the fastest rider in the first race and if weather conditions permit it could be broken in the second race on Sunday.
Free practice takes place on Friday with a single qualifying session at 9.50am on Saturday ahead of the ten-lap sprint race at 4.30pm.
Sunday morning has a short warm-up session at 10am, with the 18-lap feature race set for a 3.45pm start.
