MOTORSPORT: TRM hat-trick hopes are punctured

AN UNTIMELY puncture cost Team TRM a hat-trick at Sculthorpe last weekend.

With Holbeach siblings Ashley Rudd and Kieran Rudd both overall winners in their respective sections at the motocross meet, elder brother Ryan Rudd was denied in the cruellest of fashions.

Having dominated the first two races of his big wheel category, Ryan was odds-on for a treble in the finale.

But a rear puncture halted his progress and he limped home in fourth – making him second overall.

In the small wheel section, Ashley also won his first two races but had to settle for second in the third outing.

Still, that was good enough to wrap up an impressive win overall.

Meanwhile, six-year-old starlet Kieran rode to his first-ever win.

In a vastly reduced auto field, the high-octane youngster blew the opposition away to take a trio of victories, making him the overall winner. The showing will fill him with confidence for future races against much stronger fields.

Mark Rudd didn’t make it onto the track though, with a hip problem troubling him throughout the week.

He is, however, hopeful of joining the trio of Rudd brothers at Great Hockham this weekend.
