BEN Stafford enjoyed another outstanding weekend as he rubbed shoulders with the elite at the Silverstone Masters.
Held at the same venue as the British round of Moto GP, the 15-year-old supermoto speed merchant racked a trio of top nine finishes against top notch opposition.
After missing most of the practice sessions on Friday due to school exams, the Saracen’s Head ace qualified ninth on his D3 KTM 250 machine in the fastest (A) group – which was a fine showing in a 22-bike field.
The first and only race on Saturday was declared a wet one just minutes before the riders were released on to the track, which caused quite a scramble.
After a quick change of wheels, Stafford rode a solid and consistent race to finish a creditable eighth.
On a very wet and windy Sunday the weather levelled his horsepower deficit somewhat due to the slippery conditions, and once again Stafford rode a fantastic race to take ninth spot.
Later in the day – and after the Moto GP event – the final race saw the teenager take his best result of the day.
Roared on by a clutch of local supporters Stafford had a superb ride in the extremely wet conditions and pushed the 250cc machine to a cracking sixth place.
The D3 team will be back in action at round five of the Norasport British Supermoto Championship at the Blyton in north Lincolnshire on the weekend of July 2 and 3.
