HIGH-OCTANE teen Ryan Rudd enjoyed a cracking debut outing on a 450 supermoto machine at Silverstone over the weekend.
The Team TRM rider, who was competing with fellow Holbeach racer Lee Rudd on Moto GP weekend at the track, was bang on the pace over three days in Northamptonshire.
Having started the weekend in the National Group on Friday, he moved up to the Elite category 24 hours later – and was in the top 15 from then on.
Much of that was spent on a 450 machine, after Lee endured a nasty cash which prematurely ended his weekend.
Having climbed as high as fourth at one stage, Lee suffered with arm pump and slipped back down the field.
His problems escalated in the second race, as he crashed into not one, but two tyre walls, damaging his shoulder in the progress.
While Lee was unable to continue, Ryan – who hadn’t raced a supermoto machine in months – took up the challenge of riding the more powerful bike.
His aim was to lap at 1.04.00mins – and he managed to reach that benchmark on Sunday to cap a fine weekend in front of large crowds.
Away from Silverstone, Ryan’s brothers Ashley and Kieran Rudd were in motocross action at Great Hockham.
Young gun Kieran managed a hat-trick of seventh places to secure seventh overall in the Autos, which marked a solid return.
Ashley was troubled by a puncture in the Small Wheel section, but still managed to place 11th overall out of a hefty 38 riders.
