ROBERT Oldershaw stormed to the top spot of the podium on Easter Monday with a win at the SRCC Sports 2000 championship at the new Snetterton circuit in Norfolk.

The Moulton ace qualified on the front row of the grid alongside pole sitter Rik Johnson – and was the best part of a second faster than third-placed man Harry Chapman.

After a decent start and holding position around the outside of the first corner, Oldershaw had to fend off the fast starting Chapman to consolidate second place.

Midway through the first lap however, the Moulton man seized the opportunity and out-braked Johnson into the tight hairpin bend on the new part of the circuit.

After Oldershaw opened up five-second lead, the race hotted up on the last corner of the last lap.

Oldershaw managed to hang on though, finishing just 9/1000ths of a second in front.

He would like to thank sponsors Anglia Business Solutions, Allium and Brassica Centre, Duncan and Toplis, Digicube, Fenkleen and Mason Bros, as well as Gordon England, David Goose, Robert Wilson and most importantly his father Robert Snr, who all played a vital part in securing the victory.
