Gutsy Lee Rudd is the new British Supermoto Champion (national class) after defying the odds at Three Sisters over the weekend.
The Holbeach racer, who suffered a nasty injury after a crash a few months ago, only needed to finish at the Wigan meet following his exploits earlier in the season.
Although he wasn’t fully fit, Team TRM ace Rudd negotiated the track well to secure finishes of 15th, sixth and 11th – and bring the title back to South Holland.
Cheered on by his loyal family – and indeed Team TRM members – Rachel, Terry and Anne Rudd, the championship is richly deserved for one of South Holland’s busiest racing teams.
Indeed, while they were sealing silveware up in Lancashire, young gun Kieran Rudd was competing for Norfolk and Suffolk in a team race down in Swindon.
Amid terrible conditions at the notoriously tough Fox Hills track, Kieran managed finishes of fifth, seventh and 11th on Saturday to guide his team to the top of the table after day one.
Sunday’s action was heavily hit by the rain, with only one race possible. The Holbeach lad was one of a number of racers to see his bike damaged by the water – and had to push his machine over the finishing line.
Despite his efforts, the team slipped to fourth place overall at the close.
The race was Kieran’s last before he steps up to CF 65 bikes next season.
