Donington race ace Christian Slater is gearing up for an exciting 2014 schedule after impressing out on the track.
‘Bomber’ has held successful talks to ride at the famous Isle of Man Manx GP in August – and has also booked his place to attend the Mike Hailwood Foundation training meeting during the last weekend of March.
This came about after Slater shone while riding at Scarborough in the biggest UK road race meeting of the year back in September.
He entered and qualified for the final of the Steve Henshaw International Gold Cup – pitting him against Manx GP regulars Guy Martin, William Dunlop, Michael Dunlop, Bruce Anstey and John McGuinness.
Shortly after the event, Slater was approached by the KS Performance team. Two meetings have now taken place with the Nottingham team to discuss terms and conditions for riding their Kawasaki 600 machine at the Manx showpiece.
Plans are also being made for a couple of visits to the Isle of Man prior to the GP fortnight to learn the 37 mile circuit – and Slater can’t hide his excitement.
He said: “I cannot wait to visit the Island in 2014 and have the experience of a ‘tap on the shoulder’ from the start marshall to set me on the way for what is the most exhilarating race circuit in the world.”
Slater and his CS Racing team are holding a race night at Donington Community Centre on March 1 in a bid to finance his dream ride.
