SERIES leader Ben Wilson travels to Croft for the third round of the British Supersport championship at the weekend with the intention of claiming two strong results to add to his points tally.
After three wins and a fourth place in the four races – two rounds – so far he holds a lead of 20 points over Jack Kennedy and another good set of results could see him move further ahead.
Riding the bright green Gearlink Kawasaki Supersport machine for a third term, Kirton racer Wilson is brimming with confidence and won the first race of the current campaign at Brands Hatch over the Easter weekend.
After leading the second race for the majority of the laps he was looking good to complete a winning double but a wrong tyre choice forced him back to fourth place on the final lap.
But 29-year-old Wilson was unbeatable at Oulton Park last week, taking his first double victory in the class for the team and extending his series lead to 20 points ahead of the visit to Croft this coming weekend.
The North Yorkshire circuit has thrown up some mixed results for the Lincolnshire ace over the past few years but he has finished on the podium on more than one occasion and will be determined to score well once again.
Wilson said: “The Gearlink Kawasaki is running really well this year, it’s a team effort with all of us pulling together to ensure we have the best chance out on circuit each time.
“I can’t thank Norma and Michael at Gearlink Kawasaki enough for their support and I intend to repay that by giving them a top set of results at the weekend.”
Free practice and qualifying take place over Friday and Saturday with the short 14-lap sprint race set to begin at 4pm on Saturday.
The feature race over 18 laps is scheduled for 3.50pm on Sunday.
