Gosberton Risegate team 4G Racing’s Ross Makar clinched the Cockshoot Cup in the final race of the season at Oulton Park.
The season finale saw Makar line up on pole position next to championship rival Gary Wetton with the result of the final race to decide the overall winner.
Makar, who secured the lead heading into turn one, sucked up the pressure from Wetton as both drivers fought to keep control in the tricky conditions.
Despite a number of challenges, Makar was able to hang onto the lead of the race and the championship as the chequered flag dropped.
Makar said: “It’s a fantastic result for both myself and the team. This is the first year we have competed in the Cockshoot so to come out as champions is real testimony to just how hard the team has worked to give me a car that was so strong!”
As the 2016 season draws to a close, the team are already hard at work planning a title defence for 2017.
