MOTORCYCLING: Wilson gunning for a super start

Ben Wilson is anticipating two highly competitive races when he travels to Brands Hatch for the opening two races of the 2013 British Supersport championship calendar this weekend.

Kirton racer Wilson completed his test programme at the Kent track two weeks ago – and proved he is a force to be reckoned with as he posted the fastest lap of the day on the short and technical Indy circuit.

And the Gearlink Kawasaki ace is chomping at the bit ahead of the curtain raiser.

“The time for testing is now over,” said Wilson. “And my season begins in earnest on Friday when we begin free practice ahead of the two races at Brands.

“I am really looking forward to getting out on track under race conditions and will be doing my utmost to bring a couple of top results back to Lincolnshire.”

There are two 30 minute free practice sessions on Friday, the first at 9.25am, and another in the afternoon at 2pm.

The 30 minute qualifying session takes place on Saturday (11.25am) ahead of the 18-lap sprint race at 4pm.

The feature race is due on track at 2.55pm on Sunday and will see riders do 26 laps of the Brands Hatch Indy circuit.

Round Two quickly follows at Thruxton from April 12-14, before a trip to Oulton Park for Round Three.
