Bourne’s Ethan Chesterfield has become the youngest student from Annabel Murcott Schools of Tae Kwon Do to achieve 2nd Degree Black Belt status.
The youngster was one of a number of local martial arts experts who travelled down to Bristol to perform in front of five 8th Degree Masters from the Tae Kwon Do Association of Great Britain (TAGB).
All of the students had to perform set self-defence routines, spar up to three different opponents and perform power and accuracy tests alongside answering questions on Korean history.
Young guns Erin Helliwell (Thurlby), Alex Parker (Bourne), Gerald Earth (Folkingham) and Tom Parkin (Deeping) joined Chesterfield at the grading.
Instructor Murcott said: “What a great ending to the year, we still have the British Championships at the end of November, but the results we achieved at the Black Belt grading were outstanding.
“Not only does the club have another 5th Degree, two more 4th Degrees and a 3rd, but we now have the youngest 2nd degree and possibly one of the youngest in the country.
“Ethan can be especially proud of what he has achieved as the TAGB does not do junior gradings, he had to do exactly the same as any adult would, so all respect to him.”
The club has now set its sights on ending the year on a high, as they get set for the British Championships at the Sky Dome Arena in Coventry.
