Lady luck leaves Wilson a mountain to climb

BEN Wilson rued his lack of fortune this season after a pretty miserable weekend at his home circuit.

An engine problem proved to be his downfall in the opening race at Cadwell Park on Sunday and with a new engine in the Gearlink Kawasaki Supersport machine he finished Monday’s race sixth.

The Kirton ace was hoping the circuit – home to the famous “Mountain” section at which riders go airborne on their machines – would provide his first win of the Supersport season.

He said: “I am hugely disappointed with what the weekend had to offer. Not being able to complete race one was a nightmare; lady luck certainly hasn’t been on my side this year.

“But on a brighter note at least I have hung on to my fourth place in the rider standings, although that is not where I wanted to be this year.”

Next round is at Donington Park from September 7-9.
