A deadly double from AJ Bunyan guided Spalding Poachers 2nd to a 3-0 derby win over rivals Long Sutton 2nd on Saturday.

Amber Wild completed the scoring from a scramble.

It was a tough day for Long Sutton Ladies’ 1st too, as their ten-game unbeaten streak came to an end with a 2-1 home reverse against Royston Ladies’ 1st in Division 2NW.

Ali Carrol’s well-taken strike put the away side ahead, only for Lisa Baker to pounce on a rebound and level for Sutton after Jeorgia Carr’s initial strike was saved.

Despite a player-of-the-match showing from keeper Lorraine Wallis, the Royston winner came from Sophie Gathercole on 50 minutes, leaving Sutton in fourth place in the table.

In the same division, Spalding Poachers 1st were handed a 7-3 beating by leaders Letchworth Ladies’ 1st.

Leanne Pick and player-of-the-match Kelly Slater had Spalding in the game at 3-2 down, but Slater’s second turned out to be a consolation.
