Talented youngsters from Moulton John Harrox School demonstrated their superiority as they won the Tonic Health-sponsored primary schools’ hockey tournament at Glen Park.
Some seven teams from local primary schools participated in a round robin tournament that served as a conclusion to a series of tournaments that have been held through the school year.
The holders – and indeed Lincolnshire Quickstix champions – John Harrox A stormed to the title again, winning all six of their games and scoring an impressive 27 goals.
St Johns School looked very impressive too, winning five games to finish in second place.
They just pipped rivals Pinchbeck East 1-0, meaning they had to settle for the bronze position.
On their debut, St Norberts put in some fine performances and pushed John Harrox A until late in their game.
They finished a creditable fourth, with St Bartholomews in fifth. John Harrox B just managed to avoid the wooden spoon with a win over a spirited Wyberton team.
• Given the success of these regular tournaments, it is hoped that even more local primary schools will participate next year.
With Friday after-school tournaments being planned for October, November, February, March and May during the next school year, the organisers would like to hear from any local schools who have not participated this time around – but would like to be included in next year’s programme.
