MORE than £250 was raised as Spalding Indoor Bowls Club hosted the annual Gareth Hicks Memorial Trophy.
The tournament is held in memory of Gareth, who passed away some 16 years ago with leukaemia.
An impressive 24 junior bowlers from clubs throughout the county competed with 12 senior Spalding members taking part in a triples competition.
It was played over three games – each lasting 50 minutes – with two juniors teamed up with a senior.
All the games were very competitive, with the winners being Liam Stanley (Spalding) with his partner William Leuty (Sutton St James), who went through the tournament unbeaten.
The runners-up were Spalding duo Lucy Cooke and Charlotte Walkden, who were also unbeaten but lost out on shot difference.
The senior winner was Martin Simpson, edging out Scott Dunham.
Afterwards all the players had lunch and a raffle was held, with all the prizes donated by the players.
The proceeds from the day were presented to Gareth’s mum Julie Hicks by organiser Colin Wilson.
Spalding thank all of the players and parents who brought the children, as well as all of the helpers and the caterers who made the competition such a successful occasion.
