Spalding Indoor Bowls Club players led the charge as the Lincolnshire Under 25 Double Rink team booked their place in the national finals.
Northamptonshire requested that both rinks be played at Spalding – and with five players being from the host club, Lincs took full advantage.
They opened up a lead of 13 shots to three at five ends, with Martin Spencer’s rink of Ryan Huskisson, Ashley Caress and Matt Orrey racing into an 8-0 lead.
Calvin Leuty’s rink of Mathew Whyers, Alex Tomlin and Jonathan West also led 5-3.
However, Spencer’s lead was soon pulled back – and at ten ends they were 10-7 up, while Leuty led 15-4.
At this stage –with one jack having been replaced as it was split in half by a firing shot from the away skip – Northants were getting used to the green.
They staged a comeback on Leuty’s rink and reduced Lincolnshire’s advantage to six at 15 ends. Spencer, however, picked up five shots on the 15th end to lead 16-10. By the 18th end Leuty’s rink only led 17-16, but Spencer’s set were still going strong.
Both teams held on to win at the close, with Leuty’s side 20-18 victors and the Spencer team prevailing 22-15 to record a memorable victory. Lincs will now play Kent in the final.
