Spalding Indoor Bowls Club have eased into the second round of the Denny Cup with a 106-40 win over Melton Mowbray.

Leading the way in the national competition was John Needham’s set of Martin Spencer, Kevin Ekins and Paul Simpson who recorded a 43-4 win at home. Graham Smith, with David Staples, Jordan Philpott and Ash Caress also ran out 27-9 winners at home.

The two away rinks also performed very well, with Bob Davis, Matt Dawson, Andy Dawson and Simon Lilley winning a close contest 17-16 and Matt Whyers, Rhys Hill, Calvin Leuty and Scott Dunham 19-11 victors.

Spalding play Stamford in the next round.
