FORMER England international hockey player Matt Taylor will lead a team of junior international players at Spalding Hockey Club’s two-day Summer Camp.

It takes place today (Thursday) and tomorrow and provides intensive coaching for players aged 11 to 18.

The club’s first ever Summer Camp has been filled with a maximum 60 young players for the sessions from 9.30am to 5pm.

The majority of the players are members of Spalding HC and they are joined by young players from clubs throughout Lincolnshire.

Taylor currently plays for Beeston HC in the top flight of the English Hockey League and is Director of Hockey at Nottingham University.

Taylor will be bringing mainly Beeston HC coaching staff to assist over the two days: Hollie Webb – England and Great Britain under 21s; Martin Scanlon – England and GB U21s; Ashley Watson – Doncaster HC, goalkeeper coach; and Jo Hunter – England and GB U21s.

England Hockey Level Four coach Keith Taylor is also expected to join the coaching staff for part of the course.

This evening, Matt and his team will put the senior members of the club through their paces in a special session from 6 to 8pm.
