Spalding gymnasts were back in action for the Level 5 County Championships.
There was an excellent turnout of gymnasts from all over the county and the standard increases each year.
In the 9 years age group Thandine Snell finished eighth – a good performance from a promising young gymnast.
In the 10 years age group Darcy Orford was a creditable sixth with some good routines but a mistake on the beam proved to be costly.
The 11 years age group saw Spalding’s first medal with silver for Beth McFarlane in the overall competition.
The 12 years age group saw Daisy Cross sixth, Daisy Cottage eighth and Keris Moore ninth.
Spalding were back in the medals in the 13 years age group with Samantha Fones winning silver overall.
The last age group saw Romy Clifton winning silver ahead of Alex Osbiston in fourth and Zoe Pacey sixth.
Meanwhile, Spalding Gymnastic Academy played host to the East Midlands GforA competition for teams who have to put together a routine on floor with changing formations to music and include acrobatic skills.
They also have to show their skill on trampette and tumbling.
Teams came to compete from Hinckley, Epping, Milton Keynes, Doncaster, Derbyshire and Chelmsford.
A total of 150 gymnasts took part and the medals were shared out among most who took part.
Spalding’s full senior team and junior team took gold.
In the micro team competition (five gymnasts) Spalding also won gold and silver in the junior team and gold in the youth team.
After a very successful day, everyone looks forward to the next one in September.
