GYMNASTICS: Spalding girls in medal glut

MEDALS flowed as Spalding Gymnastic Academy starred at a county 4-3-2 competition.

Serena Leadbeater came out top in level three, winning gold on beam and overall – making her county champion.

In the same age group, Laura Vanlier showed great style without winning any medals for her efforts.

Emma Coddington won the silver medal overall in the 14+ age group, with Clara Willis and Francesca Harper fourth and fifth respectively.

At level four in the 12/13 group Lois Lachasseigne won the gold on vault, which propelled her to bronze overall.

Also competing at this level were Amy Loveridge (5th), Georgia Symak-Cotton (10th), Kate Amess (11th), Hannah Lawrence (12th), Lucinda Thompson (13th) and Elinor Hughes (14th).

Jennifer Platt was in the 10/11 age group and performed very well on her first level four competition without managing a medal.

Meanwhile, in the 14 + age group Sophie Crowson took a fine fourth on vault which made her sixth overall in her age group, while Lauren Cook finished eighth.

Spalding’s Alec Harding said: “Well done to everyone, they put in a lot of effort and are a credit to the club.”
