Spalding enjoyed an outstanding weekend with eight wins and a draw from nine league and cup matches.

The men’s first team returned from Old Southendian with a 2-1 victory thanks to goals from Stuart Cunnington and Connor Allen.

The second team beat Bourne-Deeping 2nd 4-2 courtesy of Glenn Perkins, Pete Wright, an own-goal and Tim Maltby.

They followed it up with a 3-0 verdict at North Norfolk in the England Hockey Men’s 2nd X1 Cup second round. On target were Maltby, Wright and Joe Higgins.

Peter Gray secured a 1-1 draw for Spalding 3rd at City of Peterborough 7th.

An excellent all-round performance from Spalding 4th made it three successive wins as they beat Cambridge South 4th.

The 5-1 win came from Dominic Ibrahim, his brother Kieren, Keith Stennett (2) and Ryan Davey.

The fifth team edged out Bourne-Deeping 6th 2-1 with goals from Adrian Bettinson and James Reston.

Spalding ladies first team kept up their winning run with an 8-1 success at Bourne-Deeping.

On the scoresheet were Kelly Slater (2), Kelly Tuplin (2), Roz Dennis, Katie Gray, Jacqui Hunter and an own-goal.

Woodhall Spa were unable to raise a team and Spalding 2nd were presented with a 5-0 win.

The third team won 2-0 at Lincoln 3rd thanks to Sam Foston’s double.
