Two amateur golfers who play at Gedney Hill just missed out on an expenses-paid trip of a lifetime to Africa in the UK regional northern senior pairs final of the Morocco Matchplay, powered by HowDidiDo.
Business owner David Lord, a 15-handicapper from Fleet Hargate, and civil servant Rob Newns, from Wisbech, who plays off 13, scored 32 points at Slaley Hall, Northumberland.
In total, 32 golfers from the two regional finals will go to Marrakech in February.
Meanwhile, Spalding’s Adam Keogh helped Lincolnshire to claim second place – six shots behind Kent – in the PGA of England & Wales Inter-County Championship at The Belfry.
Keogh led the Lincolnshire fightback with a five-under 66, the best round of day two, to go with his opening 71.
Daniel Greenwood fired successive one-over 72s while Scott Emery hit 75 and 72.
