EQUESTRIANISM: Successful showing leaves riders jumping for joy

SPALDING High School’s horse riding squad were jumping with joy after a successful showing at Easton College near Norwich.

Competing in the ‘Jump with Style’ qualifiers, Spalding’s senior team won the 1.0m class and came second in the 90cm class.

The two teams now go forward to compete at the National School Equestrian Championships held at Addington Manor in October.

Also performing well were the junior team, who placed third and fourth in the 70cm and 80cm classes, while individual success went to Rosie Manning, Charlotte Taylor, Christina Faulkner, Alida Tysterman and Yasmin Peach.

Savarna Burrows, Olivia Gresswell, Beth Turnell, Alice Gresswell and Ellie Stimson also competed in four classes (two classes each) over a long twisty course consisting of 20 show jumps and cross country fences.

All of the girls were judged on their style and performance as well as time and jumping faults.

The squad now heading to Keysoe for the National School Show Jumping qualifiers.
