SPALDING High School’s talented riding team enjoyed a debut to remember at Royal Windsor Horse Show as they took a clear first place.

Held on the private grounds of Windsor Castle, Spalding’s girls prevailed by a large margin of ten seconds at a bumper version of the event – with horses flown in from all over the world for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee year.

Competing against 30 schools, Spalding were drawn to go first. But with a small amount of luck the team of Rosie Manning (on Stella), Christina Faulkner (Gypsy Rose), Yasmin Peach (Fergie) and Charlotte Taylor (Millie) actually started second, giving the riders more time to assess the course was riding.

The quartet, trained by Jane Carter, all rode superbly to achieve four fast, clear rounds over a long twisting course in front of the backdrop of Windsor Castle – and after a three and a half hour wait, their victory was confirmed.
