EQUESTRIANISM: Debut win for Leanne

GEDNEY Broadgate riding starlet Leanne Kerry secured a fantastic victory at the British Young Rider Scheme (BYRD) national championships.

The 11-year-old ace, who is a pupil at Peele Community College in Long Sutton, won the KM Elite Intro A class with 78.70 percentage, claiming more than £200 worth of prizes in the process.

It was Leanne’s first year of competing on her pony Marius, who is a 14.1 German sports pony.

Competitors endured six full competing days that comprised of over 850 tests in front of 34 judges.

The under-25 dressage championships celebrated a decade in the riding calendar, with some 37 classes from prelim to advanced medium and FEI pony, junior and young rider level tested.

Riders from all over Britain competed at event, which was held at Sheepgate in Leverton, Boston.
