Following exceptional success last season, Spalding Hockey Club members are preparing for the new league season which starts in September.
The club will once again field eight senior league teams in total, five men’s and three ladies, in the East Leagues and everyone is looking forward to the challenges ahead with many of the teams having gained promotion last season.
The men’s first team will once again be led by Josh Rowbottom with Kelly Tuplin stepping up to lead the ladies first team.
Pre-season training for all players is on Wednesday 6.30pm to 9.30pm at Glen Park, Surfleet. New players, umpires, coaches or anyone wishing to get involved with the club in any capacity will be welcome.
In addition to the senior league teams, there are plenty of opportunities to play hockey at Glen Park for all ages and abilities.
Junior coaching for boys and girls aged five to 14 is on Wednesdays in August from 9.30-11am. Complete beginners catered for and sticks provided if required. Cost £3 per session to cover pitch hire and equipment costs. The Saturday sessions will restart on September 6 from 9.15-10.45 am.
Sportivate Spalding Hockey is a programme of six sessions for girls and women aged 12 to 25 running through to September 17 (6-7pm).
These sessions are aimed at getting players back into hockey and this is a great opportunity to get a little fitter, learn new skills, meet new people and have some fun. Attendance at all sessions is not essential.
Former England player Matt Taylor is returning to Surfleet for the fourth time to run his summer camp on August 21 and 22 (9.30am to 5pm). Just a few places remain. Cost £55 for the full two-day programme. For boys and girls aged 10 to 18.
Adult beginners and family Fridays run from 6-7pm. Cost £2 per session with family rates available.
It is recommended that places are booked. For further information, email email@example.com or call 01775 724832. The club’s website is www.spaldinghockeyclub.co.uk
