EBF Spalding & District Bowls League: THE title race in Division Three is really hotting up with the top three now separated by just half a point.

Goodfellowship and Swineshead are locked together at the top, but a cracking 6-0 victory really pushed Royal Mail Cart B into the frame.

The third-placed side cruised past Castle with a 94-shot haul, B Relf, B Elliot and T Bowden top scoring with 29.

Swineshead were 5-1 victors over Sutton Bridge B with the trio of T Levell, N Wilcox and D Gardner 28-8 winners, while Goodfellowship knocked off Gosberton 4.5-1.5.

In the top flight, Spalding Town A’s 6-0 romp at Bourne Town A sent them back to the top of the pile.

G Deaton, D Coleman and C Searson helped themselves to a 32-10 win as the high-fliers amassed 99 shots.

Ayscoughfee A also scored well in a 4-2 success at Castle A. D Ground, J Wells and P Caress notched a 26-9 rink win as the away side helped themselves to 94 shots.

Meanwhile, it was a big week for Whaplode Drove A in Division Two.

Their 5-1 win at nearest rivals Sutton Bridge A sent the leaders 8.5 points clear of the rest – and ended their mini-slump.

Eric Moore, Tim Tomizzi and Jack Redden top scored with 26 shots.

Long Sutton A seized the chance to jump up to second as they saw off Whaplode Drove B 5-1.

They won on three of the four rinks with the teams of R Cox, R Martin and D Saunders and J Smith, J Surmon and R Hayden both making 23 shots in their respective wins.

Down in Division Four, basement boys Spalding Town D managed their first win since May.

It came at the expense of Long Sutton B, who were dispatched 5-1 on their own green.

Leading the way were G Moore, T Belsom and B Wheatley (26-18).

Fellow club side Spalding Town C also enjoyed a five-point haul.

Their victims were Moulton Harrox D, as the terrific threesome of A Geldart, T Nichols and T Geldart helped themselves to a convincing 31-10 rink return.
