Donington driver Mark Sargent described his weekend trip to Holland as one of the best in his 23 years of racing.
The stock car ace was proud to see son Finn become the first overseas competitor to line up in the junior event in Emmen but also came home with two trophies of his own.
The 43-year-old has been a regular visitor to the Masters of Shale event but couldn’t have been happier with how the trip went.
He said: “The weekend went very well. I was fourth in my first heat on Saturday, runner-up in the second and then went on to win the final which was very pleasing.
“I picked up a trophy for that and another for finishing second highest points-scorer, although the Master of Shale on Sunday didn’t go so well as I got a flat wheel and had to pull out.
“Finn was 21st, 19th and 16th on Saturday and then 19th, 16th and 13th on Sunday and he got through all his races without crashing.
“I managed an hour’s sleep on the ferry and then drove Finn to Manchester where he finished tenth on Monday so it was a successful, although very tiring, weekend.”
