Deepings Swimming Club siblings Alex and Lauren Wray were in record-breaking form at the National Championships at Sheffield.

Coach Lynn Chapman was delighted with their performances, although it came as no surprise as the pair had gone into the championships off the back of some excellent displays.

Lauren, swimming for Loughborough University, produced a memorable performance in her 400m individual medley, setting a time of 5.03.70 to make the final.

The 19-year-old got off to an excellent start in the final but, despite improving by more than a second, she found herself touched into seventh place.

Alex, having already broken the 50m and 100m freestyle club records earlier this year, improved his times in both events.

The 16-year-old set a long course county record of 24.34 in the 50m, improving his club record.

The time was good enough to make the semi-final, where he went close to breaking the record again, but he had to settle for 11th place so missed out on the final.

His 100m freestyle time of 54.12 was another personal best and club record.
