MARTIN Adams stormed into the semi finals of the BDO Lakeside World Darts Championship with an ominous 5-1 win over Ross Smith on Thursday night.

Defending champion Wolfie, who is from Deeping, nailed checkouts of 161 and 121 and a closing 116 en route to a 59-minute triumph at Frimley Green.

Adams’ victory puts him within one match of his fourth final appearance and a possible record-equalling third title.

Only legends Eric Bristow, John Lowe and Dutchman Raymond van Barneveld have won the BDO’s blue ribband event three times during the competition’s 34-year history.

After his win, the number one seed spoke of his desire to emulate Bristow and make it a hat-trick of titles.

He said: “I have come here to win the title this week. I want to do what Eric Bristow - my idol, who inspired me - did and repeat his three on a spin, which he achieved between 1984-86.”

The England skipper will face Martin Phillips in the last four. He saw off Gary Robson 5-4 in a tight tussle.
