JOHN Walker nailed a stunning 170 finish as the Gedney Hill and District League returned with a bang.
Although the Tigers A ace saw his side beaten 20-8 by an impressive Golden Lion outfit in Division One, Walker lit up the tie with the highest possible checkout against Jody Reynolds.
He hit treble 20, treble 20 then inside bull to wrap up a 3-1 individual win, but it proved in vain.
In what was a high quality game, Lion’s Dave Humbo also notched a 180 maximum and team-mate Craig Woods made a 160 start.
Also throwing well was Duncan Hunt, who fired a 180 in New Saracen’s Head C’s 22-5 demolition of Five Bells C.
Another of the league’s big hitters, Pete Richardson, made a 112 finish in the same game.
In Division Two, Dawn MacTavish managed a 146 finish as Legion B drew 15-15 at Hat and Feathers A.
• LINCOLN Arms B kept their unbeaten start in Pinchbeck and District League Division B going – but were pushed all the way by Drayman’s Arms A.
They needed a 3-0 win from Dan Smart at the death to snatch an 11-10 win, which sent them eight points clear at the top.
Ship A are second following a 13-8 home victory over Drayman’s Arms C. A 115 checkout from Drayman’s ace Nigel Goodwin was the highlight, though.
Dave Norbury also found a fine finish in Ship C’s 16-5 derby win over Ship B.
He went treble 20, 13, double tops for a 113 checkout as the C team moved up to third.
