MARTIN Adams missed the chance to end his stunning season on a high after suffering a semi-final defeat at the Zuiderduin Masters in Holland.
Deeping legend “Wolfie” was beaten 3-1 by unseeded Englishman Robbie Green at the final big BDO event of the year on Sunday.
Victory would have been a fitting finale for the 54-year-old, who claimed a second world title and won a third successive Winmau World Masters crown earlier in the season.
Adams, who was a beaten finalist last time around, was chasing a third victory at an event previously known as the European Grand Masters.
Seeded second, Wolfie kicked off his bid for glory with a routine 5-1 success over Dutchman Jan Dekker on Saturday afternoon.
He followed that triumph up with a equally-impressive 5-1 victory over another Netherlands native, Wesley Harms, in the evening session.
Adams’ flawless form carried on into Sunday, with seventh seed Dean Winstanley (England) brushed aside 3-0 in the quarter final.
But his number was up in the last four, as Green brushed the England captain aside.
Green couldn’t repeat the trick in the final though, as top seed Ross Montgomery (Scotland) reeled off a 5-4 win in a thrilling final showdown.
