MARTIN Adams cemented his status as one of the BDO’s finest ever players after winning his third Lakeside World Championship.
Deeping legend “Wolfie” secured a 7-5 victory over third seed Dean Winstanley in a fantasic Frimley Green final on Sunday, making it back-to-back titles.
Adams’ latest success means he becomes the first man since the great Raymond van Barneveld back in 1999 to successfully defend the crown.
And he is now a member of an exclusive club of just three other players to have won the crown on three or more occasions – Eric Bristow (five), van Barneveld (four) and John Lowe (three).
A bumper payday of £100,000 also buoyed Adams, who is now targeting a fourth crown next year.
