It’s no longer a case of “Try Another Day” for Nick Bond, the darts-playing landlord without “A Licence To Thrill”!
Bond, landlord of Surfleet’s Riverside pub, hit the headlines last summer when he clinched a rare victory withthe lowest check-out possible – a double one.
But now the often-defeated Bond has won his first trophy after eight years of trying, clinching the Kirton and District League’s Landlords Cup.
“All our players are always in the paper for big check-outs and 180s. But I never win anything and they give me a lot of jokey stick,” he said.
But now Bond is victorious – admittedly in a tournament with only eight entrants – after beating Tina Roper.
“Now I’m the only player in the pub to have won anything this season... so I really have had the last laugh,” joked the jovial landlord.
And how did he close out his momentous victory? With another double one of course!
