A well-attended finals night at Spalding Services Club saw yet again a very high standard of darts from the best of the league’s players.
Player of the night was without a doubt Ash Allen from Moulton Harrox B.
Winning the league pairs with partner Dan Vaughan, he went on to win the singles and the coveted Mark Tansley Trophy.
Lower-ranked Riverside A beat Drayman’s Arms A with a last-game win by Carl Kirk securing the trophy 4-3.
Another close match with Andy Bingham beating Jason Hammond 2-1 in the final game to secure it for Lincoln Arms A 4-3 over Moulton Harrox B.
There were 180s from Dan Vaughan, John Charlton and Jason Hammond.
Both players from The Fisherman’s Arms saw Allison Green beat Chris McCutcheon 2-0.
Draymans Arms A’s Tony Clark beat Dan Hardy from Kirton Leisure Centre in straight legs.
Spalding Consti Club steward Dick Morgan came away champion, beating Tony Branch, Drayman’s Arms landlord, in straight legs. A crisp 118 checkout in the second leg secured the victory.
The all-Riverside B final saw Chris Fidler and Claire Brookin beat Steve Stancer and Bev Graves in straight legs in a high-scoring game.
Moulton Harrox B’s Ash Allen and Dan Vaughan pipped Riverside B pair Gary Mace and Steve Stancer 2-1 in a very close game.
Played over five legs, England international Claire Brookin from Riverside B lost to Ash Allen from Harrox B in the final leg – scoring 19 ton-plus between them and Ash hitting the maximum twice.
Mark Tansley Memorial Trophy
Riverside B’s Gary Mace (winter league singles champion) and Ash Allen (summer league singles champion) produced another very high-scoring match going the full five legs.
Ash again hit the maximum and took the final leg to capture the trophy for a fitting end to a very enjoyable evening.
