THREE records were smashed as Spalding Cycling Club got their time trial season under way.

Despite inclement wet weather at the five-mile Pode Hole event, the turnout was great – with a number of personal best (PB) times clocked too.

Harry Bellars completed the distance in a time of 12.17 minutes, which was two seconds quicker than the previous junior boys record that has stood since 1994.

Jen McAndrew also set a new junior girls benchmark with a rapid time of 13.55mins.

The other record breaker was Aimee Stocker, who reduced her existing record over this distance from 14.07mins to 13.33mins.

At the top of the leaderboard, it was a very tight battle between winner Adam Ellis, second-placed Jeremy Hargrave and Neil Palmer.
