Jenny McAndrew’s super season continues with a strong showing in the finals of the National 10 mile School Championships.
The national event was on a challenging hilly and technical course in Leicestershire, which attracted the top youth riders from throughout the country with a large field of 160 qualifiers.
The Spalding Cycling Club rider, who had won her regional heat earlier in the year, had been building towards this with her training and earmarked this as a personal target event.
The course is known as the Six Hills, and in addition blustery conditions on the day this made the event one for the stronger riders.
After three miles Jennifer was slightly down on her target, but on the head wind and return sections used her strength to power through, and finished with a personal best time of 27:24. It was good enough to secure bronze position in her category.
