ANOTHER Go-Ride season at Spalding Cycling Club is under way – with Jake Norton making a blistering start.

Twenty five of the club’s young riders took part in a skills development session at the Memorial Field, before finishing with a cyclo cross race.

In what is a new initiative this year, each age group held their own individual race and the coaches had designed some new routes with some very demanding challenges.

The race length for the older groups was also stretched out to more closely resemble a Lincolnshire cyclo cross league event.

In the older age group, Norton reaped the benefit of a full winter cyclo cross season, putting on a dominant performance to secure first place. Tom Wright led strongly from the beginning to win the Spokes group, while Jay McClearon secured top spot in the small ‘Hub’ section.

• Spalding CC attracted 92 cyclists to their annual Sportive event earlier this month.

The timed ride offered two challenging distances – 62 miles or 100 miles.

Based in Long Sutton, one route headed through King’s Lynn and Sandringham, with the longer course taking competitors up to Docking and Brancaster.
